Kilkenny Bereavement Support will be recruiting new volunteers to commence a 30 hour training course in September 2011. The application procedure and screening will take place between Easter and Summer


A support group for adults bereaved by suicide

Kilkenny Bereavement Support is setting up a group for adults bereaved by suicide.
It will take place in Villa Maria, Talbots Inch, Kilkenny commencing on Thursday 24th March 2011 at 8.00pm.
This will be a closed group in that noone will join the group once it has started. There will be 8 sessions for this group which will be facilitated by two trained facilitators. Afterwards, it is hoped that there will be a drop in centre for participants once a month.


Talks on Bereavement and Loss

“Words for Loss”
Kilkenny Bereavement Support is offering three talks on the area of bereavement and loss. These talks will take place in St Patrick’s Parish Centre, Loughboy, Kilkenny on three Wednesday nights at 8.00pm starting on Wednesday 23rd. The talks will look at how a bereavement can affect an individual, a family and a community, how the bereaved can best cope with their loss and how family, friends and neighbours can provide support to someone following a death.
The titles and dates are as follows:
Wed. 23rd.March. “Bereavement and Loss”
Wed. 30th.March. “Difficult Deaths” and
Wed. 6th April. “Being comfortable around one’s own loss and how to support others. Admission is free.
